Portland Institute for Contemporary Art Seeks Marketing Intern

PICA is seeking an intern interested in arts marketing and nonprofit administration with an understanding of contemporary art to assist with Portland Institue of Contempory Art’s marketing and communications efforts relating to our Spring 2015 programming. Approx. 8-10 hrs/week. May be able to work remotely on certain tasks.Including assistance with researching the PICA archives, executing related social media campaigns, and miscellaneous basic graphic design. We are looking for applicants that possess strong writing and editing skills, understanding of social media platforms, photo editing skills, the ability to responsibly handle archival/historical materials with care, basic graphic design skills, the ability to manage assigned project timelines and deliverables, and a familiarity with PICA’s progs. JOB DESCRIPTION: The intern supports the department with day-to-day tasks and operations. This position is ideal for a strong candidate with adaptible experience with communications. DUTIES INCLUDE: assisting with tracking and maintaining of media contacts and clippings, planning and implementation of social media campaigns, writing content for marketing materials, researching and compiling various analytics, preparing media kits, assisting at events, and possibly helping with audio/visual projects. RECESS Summer Internship Program 2015.RECESS is an independent arts center located in the SE industrial district of Portland dedicated to nurturing emergent, experimental, contemporary practices. RECESS aims to foster new forms of cultural inquiry and spark a discourse of change within both the art community and its wider context. For the past two years, RECESS has supported fresh ideas and perspectives from underrepresented artists, bringing them to light for the local arts community. As well as an exhibition space, RECESS also maintains an active community by renting out studios to local artists and hosting cutting edge music events. We’re now accepting applications for our five summer internship positions in Research, Development, Design, Exhibition, and Documentation.
