While living in New York City, I was inspired by the large number of trash bags piled up daily in the streets. Trying to personify people’s discarded “waste”, I appropriated the iconic image of Big Bird’s (Sesame Street) eyes and pasted them to each trash bag. To document this project I took a series of photographs in NYCHA housing developments throughout Brooklyn and Queens.
