All I ever wanted was all of your attention

For “Open Call” at Surplus Space in Portland, OR, we asked the audience to curate the performances we would enact by making an open call for dares.

Ok, but is it art? Well I don’t know if smashing an egg on your head or licking the bottom of someone’s foot is important. But we wanted to look directly at the relationship between artist/producer and audience/spectator. Who really made this work? What role does spectatorship play in production? Would the advertising industry be worth billions no one who payed attention?

This project has left us with many questions, how does this process mirror our underlying desires to please people with our art, what are you to me?
